Hey! I’m Rachel, a certified postpartum doula and newborn care specialist in Charlotte, NC. As a doula, I am passionate about assisting parents with newborn care. I am available to provide support day and night, and I am flexible in accommodating the specific needs of each family. Whether providing guidance with bottle feeding or breastfeeding, helping to soothe a crying baby, helping you get caught up on sleep or giving advice on infant sleep, I am committed to helping make the transition to parenthood a positive and rewarding experience.
I’m originally from northern Virginia, but am now thrilled to call Charlotte, NC home. Family is incredibly important to me, and mine lives in Winston Salem, NC and Columbia, South Carolina. The closeness to my support system makes the move that much sweeter. I currently live with my two fur babies, my dogs, Lexus and Cash, who are the sweetest and most spoiled babies ever.
Growing up, my home was the place where all the kids gathered and where parents could rest assured knowing that their little ones were in good hands. We always had extra kids around, whether it was kids from church, family friends, my friends, or even just the neighbor kids. We were that house, and I loved every minute of it.
Once I got old enough, I began to help my mom take care of the babies and the kids when parents an extra set of hands (or two) for a date night, a break, or whatever their occasion. By the time I was in high school, I became the babysitter that everyone called for help.
After I graduated high school, I went on to try my hand at what feels like just about every job under the sun. But, inevitably, I always came back to working with kids and babies. I’m also a nanny, but once I learned about being a doula, I knew this was what I was meant to do. This is what just sits perfectly with me.
As your postpartum doula and newborn care specialist, I can provide physical, emotional and educational support after your baby arrives. I’m dedicated to helping you adjust to your new life with your baby, which can be a challenging transition. I’ll help you with infant feeding, breastfeeding, and lactation support as well as baby care and safety, sleep training, and new parenting education. I’ll even help out around the house, wherever you need it: laundry, cooking, taking care of siblings or the baby while you shower or sleep, and even light housekeeping!
I’m also here to give you emotional support ot help you overcome the stress and anxiety that can come with having a new baby. I hope to give you an ear to listen, and a shoulder to cry on, and words of encouragement so you know you aren’t alone, especially throughout the adjustment period. If you need even more professional help, I can provide referrals to other professionals, such as doctors, lactation consultants, and counselors.
I’m here to help you navigate the postpartum period, while smoothly and confidently adjusting to this new phase of life.
The months following childbirth are incredibly transformative, albeit exhausting. Doula services and postpartum education can be a lifeline when you need it most. Having an extra set of hands can provide relief enough to avoid "the baby blues," feel a little more like yourself, or even catch a guilt-free catnap.
I love supporting families in and around the Charlotte area, however, whenever they need it, day or night. Here are a few postnatal doula support that I offer that could help:
Newborn care while you catch up on sleep (or shower)
Creating a sleep schedule
Meal prep
Light house cleaning
