Hey! I’m Nia, a certified birth and postpartum doula in Charlotte, NC. As a doula, I take great pleasure in providing parents with support during pregnancy and the newborn stage of their child's life. I am available day or night to help with whatever families need most, whether that be advice and guidance, physical assistance, or emotional support. My goal is to ensure that you feel comfortable and confident in your parenting capabilities and that your new bundle of joy gets the best care possible.
As a doula, I enjoy supporting parents through newborn care, day or night, however, they need help most. I’ve provided care for families across states, those with multiple children, as well as parents and children with disabilities. I’ve supported childbirth in hospitals and birth centers. In every situation, I strive to empower you as you journey into your next phase of parenthood with sensitivity, understanding, and knowledge. I hope to support as many families as I can while enjoying this adventure, and I look forward to being a part of your family’s journey!
As with many of you, my life is made up of more than just my job. In addition to my professional life, I am a dedicated and loving wife to my husband and a passionate homeschool teacher to my son. I enjoy spending my free time singing, brushing up on my Spanish language skills, and playing pickleball. I'm always looking for ways to expand my horizons and embrace new experiences.
I was introduced to the wonderful world of birth work during my sister’s pregnancy. I had the honor of being a part of my sister’s support team, lending a helping hand to my sister and the certified birth care team. At some point during the experience, the practitioner hinted that she was a doula, and added a side note that she believed I would do well in the field. She explained that my naturally caring demeanor was an important helpful trait in a doula, encouraging me to look into it.
This sparked my interest, so I did as she advised and researched what being a doula was all about. I was instantly drawn to the idea of providing doula and birth services, as I could clearly see the need for it in the community. I felt a real connection to the work and was inspired by the way it supported families in such an important moment in their lives. I felt passionate about the work, and soon I was fully committed to becoming a doula and making a career out of it. I knew I wanted to be a part of this field and make a positive difference in the lives of those I served.
As your doula, I'm here to provide physical, emotional, and educational support throughout your pregnancy, labor, delivery, and postpartum recovery. I will provide information and resources to help you make informed decisions about your health care throughout your pregnancy and childbirth, as well as provide comfort measures, such as massage and other relaxation techniques, to help you cope with labor and delivery.
I will also be available to help you adjust to life with your new baby, by offering advice and support on breastfeeding, parenting, and newborn care. After your baby arrives, I'm here to provide a range of assistance during the postpartum period. This includes light housekeeping tasks, such as washing dishes and tidying up, as well as laundry services. I can also provide feeding help, from preparing meals to assisting with breastfeeding or bottle-feeding. I'm here to make sure that you and your baby have everything you need during this special time. I will be available to answer any questions you may have, provide emotional support, and offer a listening ear.
My goal is to help make your pregnancy and postpartum experience as positive and rewarding as possible.
The months following childbirth are incredibly transformative, albeit exhausting. Doula services and postpartum education can be a lifeline when you need it most. Having an extra set of hands can provide relief enough to avoid "the baby blues," feel a little more like yourself, or even catch a guilt-free catnap.
I love supporting families in and around the Charlotte area, however, whenever they need it, day or night. Here are a few postnatal doula support that I offer that could help:
