Hi! My name is Emily Kiser, and I am a Certified Birth & Postpartum Doula. I am also certified in breastfeeding counseling, childbirth education, and placenta encapsulation. But I’m more than just a professional. I am also a wife and the mother of four beautiful babies. Because of these unique, personal parenthood experiences, I want to help other women through pregnancy, labor, and the 4th trimester (postpartum).
My journey began after the birth of my first daughter, Molli. Molli and I had a difficult time with her latching and gaining weight. We visited the pediatrician and nutritionists multiple times to help her increase her intake. We finally had a visit with a lactation specialist who trained me in the art of nursing in the way that she was most comfortable. She also instructed me on increasing my milk supply and getting the best out of this experience, which was truly what I wanted to do. From then on, Molli and I grew closer and bonded more, allowing her to nurse more efficiently.
After this experience, I felt God tugging at my heart to help other women. I then had two other children, using the knowledge I learned to help enhance my journey and allow me to deeply fall in love with this gift that I am so blessed to offer my babies. God continued to show me this path.
My husband and I have experienced love as well as loss. We have two heavenly babies whom we think of often. We have learned to rejoice in the small moments and love BIG on our babies.
I am here to help you as you prepare for your journey into parenthood, throughout labor and delivery, and beyond throughout the postpartum period. In addition to helping you soak up and gather all of the information to help you go into childbirth, both confident and knowledgeable, I’ll help you create a customized birth plan and be by your side wherever you deliver, at home or in a hospital setting. My goal is to help you have a stress-free birth experience.
I’m also here to help ensure that your baby is fed however that looks for you. Whether that’s guidance on bottles and formula or as a lactation consultant with one-on-one counseling to perfect latching, positioning and technique for lactation, breastfeeding and pumping advice.
But, we aren’t just about birth and feeding at Uptown Doula. Doula care is also about the family unit as a whole, your mental health, and helping ease the transition into parenthood. Through postpartum services, I’ll come to your home to welcome a new little one, providing various services, including laundry, cooking, meal prep, light house cleaning, and infant care, and lending a helping hand wherever else I’m needed.
