Who is Natalie Story?

I am a momma of 3 and 1 angel baby up in heaven. I have professionally been involved with the birthing world since 2019. When I am not helping someone realize their full, badass potential, I am most likely with my daughter at cheerleading or outside enjoying a drink somewhere. I cannot wait to get to know you and be there to support you as you embark on this beautiful journey into parenthood.

Hey there! I'm Natalie, a birth doula and student midwife in the Charlotte area. I look forward to meeting you and supporting you throughout your pregnancy, labor and delivery. Here's a little more about me—

Why I Became a Doula

I knew I was interested in becoming a doula after my birth experience with my son in 2018. I trusted my doctors, nurses, and health care team and didn't think twice throughout labor and delivery. But I wasn't a doctor; who was I to ask questions, anyway?

Sadly, my birth experience was traumatic, and I didn't realize until later that it didn't have to be.

Like so many others, it wasn't until after delivering him that I realized the whole experience could have been different. I never knew that there was so much I could have controlled or even that there were other options. I knew then that I wanted to become a birth and labor doula to prevent someone else from having the same experience.

After years of research, education and becoming a doula, I discovered we were expecting another child. My youngest son was born in the summer of 2021 in a completely unmedicated birth. This birth changed my entire perspective on "natural birth." Not only did labor go smoothly, but so was the healing process. As a result, I became fascinated with how our bodies are meant to birth.
I knew I had to share the message with other expectant parents.

So, through doula services, I want others to know that they have choices and inform them that many medical interventions that happen with many hospital births are, in many cases, entirely unnecessary. Of course, not all situations are the same, but it helps to be informed so you can choose yourself and have an advocate there for you every step of the way. It is my mission to educate others, helping them go into childbirth confidently understanding how their body works.

Educating and empowering others feels like I am doing something right. It is incredibly rewarding getting messages about how I helped someone during pregnancy and childbirth, gave them the courage to find their voice, and that because they were informed, they had the most amazing labor ever.

Your birth matters and you should love it.
